Technological Overload

Technology and social networking has become a very big part of a lot of people's communication. Preferred communication, I should say. Seeing a clip from American Idol on Yahoo recently, I noticed the show flashed the current singer's Twitter account name on the front page.

Social networks are a popularity contest anymore, I feel. Social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr (I think that is the name) don't seem to be about socializing, but to see how many 'likes', 'followers', and friends you can accumulate. The higher amount of "Friends" on a person's Facebook account seems to mean a higher celebrity status. And with a higher celebrity status and a ridiculous amount of "fans", the more that person can be heard and agreed with. Their message gets out across to many people. But what about the Facebook user who has less than 50 "friends", because they add only those they know? That user seems to be forgotten in the the Internet.

The seasons are not what they used to be. Winter practically goes strait to summer. Summers can get excruciatingly hot! So now, as I look at the Easter window cling decorations, wiping the sweat off of my eyebrow, I think of the Easters when I was a kid and the temperature outside was still chilly.

I don't need a therapist.

I need a friend that will listen.
